GBC is Awarded NCI CPTAC Contract
Seattle-based Clinical Research Organization is Awarded a National Cancer Institute (NCI) Contract for Oncology Biospecimen Collection
SEATTLE, March 30, 2016
Global BioClinical (GBC), https://www.globalbioclinical.com, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) / National Cancer Institute (NCI) to support the Clinical Proteomics Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC) Project (http://proteomics.cancer.gov ). The primary objective of the CPTAC Project is to improve the ability to diagnose, treat, and prevent cancer. The CPTAC Project identifies protein alterations in cancer and related biological processes and provides this data, along with associated assays and protocols, to the public.
Through its international network of affiliated clinical sites, Global BioClinical (GBC) will facilitate collaboration between regions of the world that have high cancer prevalence, late stage detection, and fewer treatment options and this US government-funded research project. Global BioClinical (GBC) will establish and manage a biospecimen collection network, including oncology treatment centers, that will enroll subjects diagnosed with various types of cancer and who are scheduled to undergo surgical treatment for their disease. Participating subjects will consent to donate a pre-surgical blood sample and resected surplus surgical tissues. Collected biospecimens, and de-identified medical and pathology information, will be delivered to a CPTAC biospecimen testing laboratory where they will undergo proteomic analysis. The collected biospecimens must meet a stringent set of qualification criteria so that extracted DNA and RNA is suitable for advanced genomic and proteomic analysis and sequencing technologies.
In addition to developing and managing a network of biospecimen source sites, Global BioClinical has extended its CPTAC collaboration to include established research biospecimen provider BioReclamation IVT (http://www.bioreclamationivt.com) based inBaltimore, MD and their affiliated biospecimen quality control laboratory in Chestertown, MDformally known as Integrated Laboratory Bioservices (ILS Bioservices).
